The UAE Pavilion proudly presents “Nurturing Legacy” at Expo 2023 Doha, the first International Horticultural Exposition to be held in the Middle East and North Africa region.
The six-month long event convenes 80+ global participants around the theme “Green Desert, Better Environment,” co-hosted by the Bureau of International Expositions and the Association for International Horticulture Producers. “Nurturing Legacy” shares the story of our nation’s dreamers and pioneers, tracing their innate ingenuity and agricultural legacy.
The design of UAE Pavilion takes inspiration from the resilient Ghaf tree and its complex root structure, featuring rammed earth walls to create a striking architectural space. The pavilion’s six interventions house a multi-sensory experience that takes visitors through the roots and legacy of our interconnectedness with our land and each other. The building is surrounded by a curated garden full of native and cultivated flora, allowing visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in our diverse landscape.
‘Nurturing Legacy’ finds its roots in the stories, songs and poems of our early dreamers, who cultivated an enduring bond with our land and established an agricultural legacy built on respect for the environment, resilience and care for each other. This legacy became an integral part of our story through our Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, whose focus on collaboration, innovation and preservation inspired our forward-thinking approach to agriculture.
Today, the UAE continues the legacy of our Founding Father across all fields, from the local community efforts to institutional initiatives to global philanthropy, working to innovate and create a prosperous future for all. These efforts are advancing food and water security globally, demonstrated through agricultural technology solutions, sustainable water resource management and R&D.
